Carmen Mahave

Carmen Mahave is a Toronto-based sculptor, and multimedia artist, specializing in mouldmaking and casting. She has had the privilege of exhibiting works across Canada's vibrant art scene including the Art Gallery of Mississauga, Art Mûr, OCAD University, Ignite Gallery and Gallery 1313. She's also participated in exhibitions at cafes, tabling events, and has works in several private collections and commercial moulding and small-scale production casting.

Mahave's practice is driven by a curiosity of the body as an adaptive actant, an entity, object, or an agent capable of changing its behavior, role, or form in response to external stimuli or environmental conditions, often in a way that reflects agency or lack thereof. She continues to push boundaries in her multimedia practice, exploring the intricacies of the human experience, interaction and duplication through uncanny and abject creations.
